Why Is My Dust Collector Not Performing Properly?

Why is my dust collector not performing properly? It could be as simple as the system is undersized, you have added process equipment as your business grows and the existing system will not handle it. This is just one example, there are many reasons why your system may not be performing as designed.

Here are a few things to look for:

• Do the filters need to be replaced and are you using the proper filters for your process? There are many different filter medias available which are designed for specific processes.
• If the fan is belt drive, make sure the belts and sheaves are not worn, and aligned properly, check belt tension.
• Is the filter cleaning system operating properly including diaphragms and pilot valves? Is your compressed air clean, dry and the proper pressure?
• Check for any leaks in the system including drum covers, rotary air locks and filter door seals.
